Mr. Brian Parish
The player mentioned in the Andover history section has contacted the League after logging on to our website.
Brian tells us he is now 70 yrs old, but is still playing in the Clacton League. He also represents the League in the Essex Super Vet competitions
After 50 years he has made contact and included a valuable photograph for us.

This is the Royal Army Pay Corp [Whitchurch] team, who won the League in 1957. Brian is on the left and the others are Ray Knapp & Frank Bottlander. Frank writes "In this article, it incorrectly says that Brian Parish beat me in the Open singles in 1957."
Frank won the Open Singles in 1957 and together with Brian, also took the Open Doubles. The finals were held at Kellys Directories. [Now long gone] Victor Barna and Diane Rowe did not attend the championship finals, but some weeks later Brian and Frank played an exhibition match against both ex-world finalists at doubles.
Frank is now 72 yrs. young and retired at the age of 49 from table tennis..
Editors notes....
Thank you very much Frank, for the correction and the enclosed pictures. My apologies for original error.
Thank you both for taking the time to get in touch. It is much appreciated. May you continue to play or follow Table Tennis for many more years to come.
